FRESHMAN MOM BREAK
I just wanted all of you who follow us to know I have not abandoned ship here. There is so much going on between LUCKY DUCKS premiering in New York this week and more pressing is my upcoming deadline for my book BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HOT PLACE. I have to deliver it to Harper Collins on December first so that is where all my writing energy must go for the next three weeks.
There are no real events in FRESHMAN LAND to report on anyway.
It can be a bit of an emotional see-saw but so is life – alas.
Several very smart female friends told me over the summer one day between four and six months in you wake up and it’s all just fine, in the sense that your life just is.
It is the way it is and you become happy with it again and that is pretty much what happened to me.
I have so much on my plate and am in the process of doing so many things, it now feels like it has always been this way.
When FRESHMAN MOM does come back it will be retooled into MULTI-GENERATIONS OF MATERNAL MADNESS, which will incorporate much more than the life of a Freshman and her mom which becomes pretty redundant after the first semester.
Traveling back into my families’ past is much deeper, richer material that from time to time will incorporate Freshman Mom issues, but the daily, “she called, she didn’t, she needs money, she doesn’t” will not be the topics I focus on.
So the focus will be elsewhere – starting with my grandmother and working up to me. Freshman Mom was a great starting out point for this. But I have been writing FM since July. I’m kind of over it and I know Taylor is.
So on to new topics, real dysfunction and some interesting discoveries.
Have a Great Thanksgiving.
Enjoy your turkey and having your Freshman home with you for a spell.
Now deadline awaits!!!!!!
