FRESHMAN FIFTEEN

The title of this piece does not refer to the purported weight gain by some freshman during their freshman year, it is the total amount of hours I spent with my freshman when I went up to Boston last Sunday.

SO HAPPY FOR A SNOW DAY!

This week has been so full of action, emotion and commotion, not to mention the blizzard we are in the midst of. I am so happy to have this day where I’m told to stay in my room and hibernate.

WORD WARRIOR FELL OFF THE WAGON

Well, I have almost fallen off, I’m hanging on by a send button and my trusty assistant Allison cleaning up the typos.

See, well, the long and short of it, short for me as I have a train to catch – someone did something really awful, underhanded, destructive and mean to our whole family.

SHE’S A TWEEN – WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Mothering is like fashion every season they seem to change the rules on you and you have to somehow figure out how to work in last year’s tried and trues with this year’s new styles.

FRESHMAN EVERY DAY

General update in freshman mom land – I wish I had something juicy to write about. I wish I had some new discovery, or we had unearthed some undiscovered personality trait or broken some dreadful habit or had dug into my past and come up with something witty, yet hopefully helpful to share with you all.

GURU LARRY COMES TO TOWN

So many people have become participants on this blog though few appear with the regularity of “Guru Larry.”
What makes it more than unusual is up until last Wednesday around dinnertime we had never met “Guru Larry” aka Larry Enzer.

PIN ME UP

What is going on in these photos? I‘m being prepared to be pushed pinned. Yes, you heard me push pinned.

WORD WARRIOR

Glenn and I debated last night about what yesterday’s blog was really about. We don’t argue we debate and spar and if we disagree it’s OK. It’s pretty fabulous actually. I totally disagreed with him and went and took a bath and that was fine.

LOVE DOESN’T MEAN HAVING TO JOIN THE PTA

I don’t know of many changes as drastic as that from the kind of parent you think you will be when you are a kid to the kind of parent you choose to be once you actually become one.

Since the shadow of my mother hangs over this blog as well as me, there is no way not to bring her into discussions such as this.

GAGA FOR GAGA???????

As those of you who follow me on TWITTER know last night I took Lucy to the Lady Gaga Concert Monster Ball.

Not sure on the scale of good mother choices where it falls but it’s something she was dying to do. So two good seats for the concert, with me as companion was one of her Christmas gifts.

WHAT MAKES A FAMILY?

It’s six thirty am and while everyone here is still asleep Taylor leaves to go back to college in two hours.

SAIGON AND ON…

30,000 feet over Da Nang, Viet Nam, a city we left just 16 hours ago. Lucy asked, “Why didn’t we just fly home from there?” I then had to explain the complexities of direct flights, major hubs, not to mention a family of four flying Business Class during peak season using miles.
