PRE-ORDER BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HOT PLACE

SUMMER IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE

No, no, I haven’t been absent because I was tootling around Cannes the last week. I lost power for two days in Irene and then I went to Boston where I have been busy being ” Junior Mom.”
In fact I have never been to the South of France, but I am lucky as I have friends who go each year, and they have shared some wonderful images with me to share with you before we all head back into the frantic pace of fall.

WEATHERING THE STORM

We are hunkered down in our house in an area that is said to be in direct line of what is either a category one hurricane, a category two tropical storm or merely some nasty weather.

FIND OF THE WEEK

LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER

WHERE DID IT GO?

Summer is almost over.  I know that for sure as today I had to tip Lucy’s camp counselors.  The day that happens the jig is up.  But where did it go? Is it only me or does anyone else feel like they were just making their summer lists of things to do?

POODLES RULE, EAST HAMPTON LIBRARY AUTHOR’S NIGHT

I have this theory which I posted on Facebook last week, if you upload a photo of a puppy, a flower or if you really want to get a lot of attention a sunset, you get comments for days.
Now what does this have to do with the East Hampton Library’s Author’s Night? Everything and nothing.

GREY GARDENS TODAY

Because of the legendary Maysles documentary and the multi -award winning 2009 HBO film of the same name Grey Gardens conjures up images of dilapidation and filth of mythic proportions.
But Grey Gardens was sold 35 years ago, it looks very different today than it did when the Edies inhabited it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT!

When I met him close to 30 years ago ( I was very young) he was handsome, talented, worldly, spiritual, deeply well read and culturally up to date on everything. Today he turns 80 and he is still all of those things. How does he do it? Guess you’ll have to watch today’s 50@50 to find out.

A GOOD SHIRT IS HARD TO FIND

A perfect shirt is a beautiful thing. And a perfect shirt is often hard to find. I think I have found the perfect light weight shirt and before summer is over, I wanted to share it with you.

DEATH BE NOT FORGETFUL

Yesterday was the two-year anniversary of the death of my oldest, dearest friend Blake Snyder. Anyone who knows me, knows the story of Blake and me and his death.

The oddest thing happened, I had been thinking for some months about what I would write on August 4th, how was this year, two years later different than the first year?
